A Bit About Me

My interest and abilities in drawing and painting began at an early age – when my mother actively encouraged me to draw on my bedroom wall I realised I must be doing something right!

BACKGROUND
I developed my skills in and around the West Midlands, UK, before moving south to study at UWE Bristol where I gained a B.A. Honours in Illustration. I then moved to Liverpool where I developed my Fumage technique (more on that below) before moving to Cornwall where I opened a gallery (The Art Block) to exhibit my own and local artists work. Whilst running the gallery I also held creative workshops, organised crafts fairs and took my work around Cornwall to various events and festivals. After several years I made the decision to close the gallery and instead work from my home studio where I continue to develop my styles and techniques, introduce new ones and expand on my portfolio.

STYLES & PRACTICES
I take pride in the diversity of my creative skills, from pastel portraits to humorous acrylic illustrations and 3D pieces. One of my most unusual techniques is Fumage (Smoke Art), where I use a flame to layer plumes of smoke onto a surface, gradually building structure and tone. My creative abilities also extend to digital media, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign for a range of online and printed material.
